Architect : Molenbroek, W.
Locality : Rotterdam
Country : Netherlands
Building style : Jugend/Art Nouveau
In Netherlands elevators did not immediately have the profound influence on building that they did in America. High buildings, such as the “White House” office tower in Rotterdam, done by W. Molenbroek in 1897–1898, remained exceptional. At eleven stories, it was for a time the tallest office building in Europe, but it used brick, bearing-wall construction, and its facades were in conventional revivalist style.
