    Description :

“Place des Vosges, known as the Place Royale in the seventeenth century, was a favourite spot to determine one’s fate by the sword. Celebrations of a more noble cause also graced this royal place. In 1612, the double wedding of King Louis XIII to Anne of Austria, and of his sister Elizabeth to Philip IV of Spain, inaugurated this open-air square—the oldest of this kind of Paris.” Cardinal Richelieu was living here as did Victor Hugo—among many other celebrities and French aristocrats.
