The 840 000 bricks of the church wall are handmade in Toulouse. Bricks are regarded as biblical material: earth is mixed with water, the bricks are dried in open air and burned with fire; they are created by human effort. All the main symbols of the Old Testament are present in their creation. The round shape of the church creates an echo, which has to be repaired. The use of bricks and the way they are arranged in the wall, make the acoustics excellent—technique that has been used since antiquity.
