    Description :

“Long before this historic Marais site became a church, a fifteenth-century mansion stood here, and enjoyed a succession of noble occupants. It was here, in 1628, that the Bishop of Geneva, Saint-François-de Sales, established Les Visitandines, the Order of Sainte-Marie-de-la-Visitation—a convent dedicated to educating girls and aiding the sick. Inspired by the chapel of the Château d’Anet of Philibert Delorme (of Santa Maria de Loreto in Rome), this was the first of [architect] Mansart’s important buildings.”
