    Description :

The church of San Lorenzo was the parish church of de’ Medicis, in the midst of a very ordinary residential district. Sagrestia Vecchia, the Old Sacristy, is adorned with sculptures and reliefs by Filippo Brunelleschi, the inventor of the linear perspective. The New Sacristy, Sagrestia Nuova, which is also called the Chapel of the Medicis, is built by Michelangelo. He sculpted for these tombs four allegorical figures, Day, Night, Dawn and Dusk, which rank among his very finest masterpieces. Other Medici tombs are in the exquisitely ornate Chapel of the Princes.
