The Almtuna Church could be regarded as the last in Celsing's early series of church designs. The series' measured contextual responses, typological lineage, and the visual coherence are significant achievements for the architecture of the 1950s. In Germany, Rudolf Schwarz was to have an equally important role in country's church architecture as Celsing and Lewerentz had for Sweden. With the church at Nacksta (1964-1970) in Sundsvall, the last Celsing realized, a coherent cycle of research toward an inclusive purity was to end.
