    Description :

Some years ago I was visiting a friend in Lyon. We decided to make a day trip to Avignon with TGV (train à grande vitesse). It was my first time in one of these trains and the journey went ahead very smoothly. The Pope’s Palace was one of the ‘must sees’ in Avignon. We spent there a nice day and had perfect steaks in a restaurant in the evening. By the time we were planning to return to Lyon, the last train had just departed. We searched for a small and cosy hotel, had champagne laughing to our luck and returned to Lyon the next day after a well slept night. Avignon’s train stations are a mixture of old and brand new architecture, the old building standing firm in the old city centre and the TGVs leaving from the slick and quite futuristic terminal reminding of some futuristic times to come.
