As built, the church's three volumes form a rectangular open space incorporating the church ruin to the north. This gain resulted from the change to the original site layout in which the parish offices were located at right angles to the new church. Removing the volumes from simple right angles to one another by a few degrees accentuates this opening. The brickwork pattern of the north-west corner of the church suggests an incomplete, ruinous state. These gestures seem to underline Celsing's effort to include the church ruin.

Elsewhere the brickwork has the same mortar detail as first used in Berlin: wider than usual, the grey-beige joints actively determinate wall's overall colour. In mixing seconds (so-called discarded bricks) with standard bricks from the Helsingborg Brick factory, the wall surfaces have acquired simultaneously a diverse and homogeneous texture. The single pier supports a concrete beam, avoiding the sculptural expression imparted by the consistent use of brick that Lewerentz favoured in his design for the church at Björkhagen (1958-1960).
